Jie is currently a Ph.D. Graduand at the University of Virginia, with VIVA. She defended her Ph.D. dissertation on "Segmentation and machine learning for the analysis of bacterial biofilm images" in July 2021. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Engineering degree in Electrical and Communication Engineering from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China, in 2015. In May 2017, she received her Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering for her work on 3D segmentation for super-resolution imaging of bacterial biofilms.
Jie's current areas of research are in segmentation of 2D and 3D microscopy images, shape analysis and related image processing techniques.
