Sridhar Avula completed his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in August 2003. Avula recieved a Bachelor of Technology degree from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India in 2001.
Avula's areas of research included Content Based Image Retrieval. While at VIVA, he focused on segmentation of images into homogenous regions and deriving the Characteristic features as a part of the "DIRECT" content based image retrieval project. DIRECT (Decentralized Image Retrieval for Education) will be used as a retrieval service in the mutlimedia digital libraries for NASA. Avula's undergraduate and graduate courses concentrated on signal/image processing and communication systems.
